2010 Fall Volleyball Skill Instruction

Level 1 & 2; September 14th, 2010

United Sports is offering Volleyball Skill instruction. This program will be offered on Tuesday evenings for 8 weeks. Each eight individual session will last an hour. Beginners will learn the fundamental motor skills of volleyball, using fun drills and games. Intermediate players will develop and refine basic skill techniques, as well as be introduced to more advanced elements of the game. Some scrimmage will be included. Volleyball skill sessions are open to participants in grades 3 through 12. Players will be divided into groups based on age and skill level. This will ensure more experienced participants are challenged according to ability level, and less experienced participants receive the attention and instruction level that generates early success and encouragement. There will be Level One and Level Two classes offered through out the year, as well as, Specific Skill Training sessions that will be four weeks long.

Level One Class: In these 8 classes the players will learn fundamental skills of the game. This class will provide learning for the beginner and intermediate players. Each hour long class will be spent teaching skills used in volleyball. The proper techniques and skills will be taught by breaking down each movement and position of the body to ensure the player is correctly understanding the game. Every basic skill will be taught and there will be time for mini games and fun competitions. The focus of this group is for players to have fun enjoying the process of learning.

Level Two Class: In this class the player should already have completed Level One or be proficient in basic skills of volleyball. In these one hour sessions players will learn further advanced techniques such as: diving, defense, hitting decisions, covering, back setting, different hitting approaches and more. There will also be time set aside for scrimmaging the last four sessions. Besides the skill development, the players will also learn proper serve receive and game schemes. We will still focus on the fun factor of the game, but with more structure and faster paced drills. The players will get a workout!

Serving and Setting Specialized Clinic: Due to such a high request for specialized coaching especially in serving we are adding a 4 week session on SERVING and SETTING.  This small group class of no more than 6 students will focus solely on Serving techniques and Setting mechanics.  Each class will have lots of repetitions with the coach spending individual time with each player to resolve, correct and improve the player's over all performance and confidence.
* Classes run 4 consecutive weeks
* Class needs 4 players to run
* Cost: $70 a player
